With reports in Italy suggesting Juventus have wrapped up a deal for the defender, PSG refuse to give up

It feels like there's a twist every day in the Matthijs de Ligt transfer saga. Whilst the defender himself remains on holiday reports in Italy suggest Juventus have won the race for the coveted defender. However, 'Paris United' claim PSG won't be giving up on de Ligt without a fight.

Before Leonardo had taken his place as PSG's sporting director, the club spoke with Mino Raiola. PSG made a huge offer to Ajax - and de Ligt - blowing Barça's bid out of the water. With Antero Henrique leaving his role, Juventus swooped in and appear to have convinced the defender his future should pass through Turin next.

The lack of competitiveness in Ligue 1 is a factor which counts against PSG when they are battling Europe's top sides for a player.

PSG are now willing to offer de Ligt €10m per season, as well as €5m more in bonuses, and hope that will be enough to keep them in the hunt. Barça haven't spoken to Ajax or the player in months.
