Paris Saint-Germain are keen to strengthen at right-back and according to Estadio Deportivo have sounded out Real Betis's Emerson Royal.

Emerson is co-owned by Barça, where he has a contract until 2024, and is currently competing in his second full season at Real Betis.

His performances in Seville have not gone unnoticed. PSG and AC Milan both tried to sign him last summer bit his complicated ownership ruled out a move in the end.

There was even the possibility of him returning to Barça last summer to be used in a possible deal for Neymar, although the coronavirus pandemic halted the Catalan club's plans.

PSG now look set on trying to sign him again in the summer but a January move for the Brazilian cannot be ruled out.

If a deal is closed this month, Barça, who with the arrival of Sergiño Dest would be willing to let Emerson go, and Betis would share the transfer fee, 50 percent each.

If Barça wanted to recall Emerson before June 30 in order to sell him themselves, they would have to let Betis off the €6m paid as part of the original €12m fee paid to Palmeiras and pay them another €6m.

In any case, Barça are going to be closely following Emerson's future.
