The centre-back has a contract until 2023, Barça are trying to renew his deal

Barcelona want to renew Ronald Araujo's deal but it's proving more complicated with each passing day due to the interest from Europe's best teams.

The latest to check in on the defender's situation is Paris Saint-Germain, who have sounded out his camp in case he does make a move this summer.

Araujo, 23, has a contract with Barça until 2023 but if there's no agreement to extend his stay, the club will place him on the market in the summer to sell to the highest bidder.

Barça want to renew him but the club have warned they won't pay crazy sums of money to do so. It's now in the player's hands, who only wants to be valued on the same level as other youngsters who have recently renewed at Camp Nou.

The first offer of €3 million annually net plus bonuses, which would have kept him among the lowest earners at the club, was interpreted by the player's camp as an invitation to leave.

However, Barça have upped the terms in recent meetings. The difference is still big but not unsaveable because Araujo only wants to be in line with Pedri and Ansu who recently committed to new deals, or Ferran Torres. His salary would still remain a long way short of veterans like Pique or Jordi Alba.

Araujo's ready to stay at Barça for less than offered by clubs like Chelsea or Manchester United. PSG have now made their move. The next month is going to be key.
