The right-back left for Bordeaux after failing to break into Valverde's plans

Former Barcelona B captain Sergi Palencia, who joined Bordeaux on loan in August, spoke to Catalunya Radio on Thursday.

The right-back looked at Riqui Puig, Juan Miranda and Carles Aleña's chances of making the first team after he was forced to look for first team football elsewhere.

He believes it will be tough for them to break into Ernesto Valverde's side because "the level in the first team is spectacular."

However, of the three plyaers, he said he sees left-back "Miranda with the best chance of breaking in to the team" after Lucas Digne's departure left Jordi Alba with no back-up.

On Aleña, Palencia added: "He has incredible talent. Maybe it would do him well to go on loan to a La Liga side."

As for his own career, the defender said: "I was crtain that I had to leave Barça. The demands in the first team are huge and it's tough to make it.

"I was disappointed not to get a chance [in the first team]. I did everything possible to get an opportunity."
