The forward broke the deadlock to help Barcelona win the game

Paco Alcacer was chosen by Ernesto Valverde to stand in for the suspended Luis Suarez against Athletic. The forward was very active at the start of the game, finishing in the eighth minute after good work by Leo Messi and Jordi Alba.

After 20 minutes, when the team slowed down in attack, he also showed his work in defence, above all when the ball was lost. He worked generously on that front although obviously it's not his strong point.

Through the first half he played at a high level, with 10 correct passes and only one off target, recovering the ball twice and, of course, scoring.

A goal that opened the tin, so to speak, well finished, giving Kepa Arrizabalaga no chance.

SUBBED OFF

In the 64th minute Iniesta replaced Dembele, so Alcacer went to the right flank, Coutinho the left and Iniesta played in the centre. He worked well there with Sergi Roberto and Paulinho before going off himself for Vidal in the 74th minute. A good showing - and he shows he still has a nose for goal.
