The Catalans have won the race to the Racing Santander playmaker

With prices high in the transfer market, clubs are always looking to sign the best young players at bargain rates. Barcelona and Real Madrid have been chasing Racing Santander midfielder Pablo Torre and the Blaugrana have won.

He has a contract until 2025 but has agreed with his club that he can leave this summer. Per AS, Real Madrid have been working on a deal for some time but Barcelona have got ahead and the deal will be closed on Friday and made official soon.

Torre is shining with Racing in the third division and they are trying to get promoted. He’s a Spanish youth level international and had offers last summer but decided to stay ‘home’ one more season.

Barcelona were optimistic because they have an excellent relationship with his agent Arturo Canales, who is also Xavi and Pique’s agent among others.

Barcelona negotiating with Racing for the 18 year old, with the fee likely to be lower than his 10m euro release clause.

We’ll have to see if he comes to Barca B next season and gets the odd first team minutes, or if he’s loaned back to Racing.
