Pablo Machín says Girona "woke the beast" after scoring in the third minute against Barcelona on Saturday.
Portu gave Girona a surprise early lead at Camp Nou but Barca responded immediately, levelling through Suarez and going on to win 6-1.
Suarez went on to complete his hat-trick, with Lionel Messi also scoring twice and Philippe Coutinho firing home from 25 yards.
"They're very good," Machin said of Barça. "They do things very well, maybe I have to be critical of myself, though, for being excessively brave, for taking on the best team in the world face to face."
He continued: "It was a tough night. Our tactics worked well in the third minute but then we woke up the beast.
“We were nervous from the start and they were very sharp. Messi is always the one who makes the difference and he was especially good tonight.”
