Ousmane Dembele: I have changed everything

The French forward is in good form and no longer picking up injuries, at least for now

Ousmane Dembele, having reached his 100th game for Barcelona, says he has learned a lot while at the club. “Physically, when I got to the club I was very fragile,” said the Frenchman. When I was at Borussia and Nantes I was fragile. Here I have evolved a lot with the physios and fitness coaches. My way of preparing myself for games, everything has changed.”

He also thinks his playing style has modified too.

“Above all positioning, when to attack, when to calm the play down, when to pass. I like to dribble and go in attack by myself. They tell me to relax, wait for team-mates and not try to dribble past three or four players.”

Koeman’s arrival also changed things. “Many things have changed in training and in match preparation,” said Dembele.

“The training sessions are quality, the team is fit and the players are happy. The group is in a great state. We will continue forward and have objectives and we’ll try to win trophies.”

On playing with Leo Messi, he added: “Leo is a genius. We all know it. He’s the best player in the history of football. He inspired me in my youth and still is. It’s an honour to play with him.

“I’ve been a Barca supporter since I was a kid and to play at this club with the best player in the world is exceptional because to play with him is easy.”
