Ousmane Dembele: 48 hours to solve the problem

| sport

The French winger can leave for any club he likes at the end of the season for free

Time ticks, and the final decision draws near. There’s 48 hours before the transfer window closes and Barcelona are looking for a solution to the Ousmane Dembele problem. Renewal at a low price, or a departure. There’s nothing else. The club still believe they can reach a deal with the forward.

Barcelona’s ultimatum for Dembele and his agent Moussa Sissoko has not received a response, for which Barcelona understand that the player does not want to stay. That’s why he’s been left out of the last two squads.

The window shuts on Monday night at 11.59pm, so Barcelona are hoping to get something sorted by then. Dembele still wants to renew, but the astronomic wage pretentions his camp have make that hard.

Ferran Torres and Adama Traore’s arrival mean Barcelona can replace him if he goes and the competition up front will be fierce.

Dembele’s deal respires in the summer so if nothing is decided in the next 48 hours he will go for free.
