Oriol Romeu takes Barcelona medical ahead of transfer from Girona

Oriol Romeu will be a Barcelona player for the next two seasons. The deal has been completed and the player has already stopped training with Girona in order to undergo a medical with the Blaugrana.

In fact, the player is already undergoing a medical prior to his signing. The deal has been agreed and the club's idea is to announce it on Tuesday so as not to coincide with the presentation of Ilkay Gundogan. Romeu will travel on the US tour as Xavi wished.

The Girona midfielder will be Barça's third signing of the summer (plus Vitor Roque for 2024) following swift negotiations between the clubs.

Romeu had already reached an agreement with Barça while waiting for the operation to be formalised and finally there was an agreement with a fixed and variable payment that could reach the termination clause. The home-grown player has been an express request from Xavi to reinforce the midfield after the departure of Busquets.

Romeu is expected to train with the rest of his teammates in the next few hours. The midfielder is in perfect condition as he has been working with a physical plan and has been training for days with Girona, so his performance will be immediate.

He is perfectly familiar with Barça's game mechanisms and will be making his debut in the United States. Romeu is clear that he could be one of the surprises of the season and he is confident that he can be a starter in the new project.
