The midfielder has renewed at Camp Nou until 2024

Sergi Roberto has signed a one-year contract extension with FC Barcelona, with the option to continue for another season if he meets a number of targets.

His new termination clause will be 400 million euros.

Xavi Hernandez has been one of those responsible for this agreement coming to fruition. The coach has defended the need to keep him in the squad for next season. Although he has been losing prominence, the player from Reus continues to be a regular resource to come off the bench.

Fully recovered from injury, the La Masia product has played a total of 23 games this season, starting more than half of them. He started against Cádiz and in both games of the Europa League play-off against Manchester United.

The 31-year-old midfielder accepts his secondary role in the team and is delighted to remain at the club, albeit on a reduced salary. The second captain will continue to offer his versatility and commitment to the team.

His salary is in line with the economic fair-play of the club and within the plan to reduce the wage bill. He accepted a significant reduction a year ago, and this new signing will go in the same direction. With this new agreement, he could reach 15 seasons in the first team since he arrived at La Masia as a cadet in 2006 from Nàstic.
