The Mexican will be in charge again next season despite playoff disappointment last weekend

Mexican coach Rafa Márquez has renewed his contract with Barça Atlètic for one more season after playing a great role in his first year with the club's reserve team, despite losing in the promotion play-offs to Real Madrid Castilla.

Márquez, 44, coach feels very comfortable at the club and has the full confidence of the board.

This is the statement from Barça: "Rafa Márquez will continue to coach Barça Atlètic for the 2023/24 season. The Mexican coach, who returned to the club in the summer of 2022 after having been a first-team player between 2003 and 2010, has completed a very good first season as manager of the reserve team and will remain linked to the club for one more season, until 30 June 2024."

Márquez has had a good debut season and has helped the progression of young players such as Estanis Pedrola, Aleix Garrido and Marc Casadó, who have emerged as leaders on the pitch despite their youth.

The balance of the campaign is 17 wins, 13 draws and 10 defeats in an exciting season that ended with a bitter taste after the defeat and subsequent elimination against Castilla in the playoffs.

Despite this ending, the coach's work is unquestionable and there is complete confidence at Can Barça.
