Official: Paulinho leaves Barcelona to return to Guangzhou
The Catalan club confirmed a one-year loan deal with an option to buy
FC Barcelona confirmed on Sunday that they have reached an agreement with Guangzhou Evergrande for Paulinho Bezerra to return to the Chinese club on loan.
Guangzhou also have an option to sign the Brazilian midfielder, who they only sold to the Catalan club last summer for 40 million euros.
In their short statement on the deal, Barça express their gratitude to Paulinho for his commitment and dedication during his short stay at Camp Nou and wish him well for the future.
SPORT understand that the option to buy is actually obligatory and Guangzhou must sign him for 50 million euros before December 31, 2018.
Barça signed Paulinho (who turns 30 this month) from Guangzhou on August 17, 2017, and he signed a four-year deal with a 120 million euro release clause.
He scored nine La Liga goals as the club won the title last season and was also involved in their Copa del Rey triumph.
