OFFICIAL: Jordi Cruyff returns to Barcelona
The Dutchman, son of the legend Johan Cruyff, will be working closely with Laporta
It’s official. Jordi Cruyff returns to Barcelona. As SPORT revealed on Thursday morning, he has left China to join the Blaugrana. Joan Laporta has always reiterated that he expected to bring him to Camp Nou and now he’s done so.
He will have the responsibility to mark the ideological path of the club, as a new assessor of sports at Barca. Along with Cruyff, Alexanko will be back too.
His arrival was pending on severing ties with the club he was coaching in China, Shenzhen FC, with whom he had six months left on his contract.
Cruyff will have a different role at this club than he has had before, not coach, nor sporting director, but one close to Joan Laporta.
He will be setting the editorial line of the club, to put it in one way, and the first team in particular.
