The 18-year-old has accepted the challenge to wear the shirt number worn by the best ever

The first piece of good news after the closing of the transfer window: Barcelona have announced that Lionel Messi's No.10 shirt will now be worn by Ansu Fati, the club's great beacon of hope who is in the final phase of his recovery from a knee injury.

Ansu, who made his debut with the No.31 and wore the No.22 last season, was going to wear the No.17 this year. However, he has accepted the challenge that comes with wearing the shirt previously worn by the best player ever. It had been worn by Messi since 2008 but was also worn before that by the likes of Ronaldinho and Rivaldo.

Ansu, 18, has not featured since last November but is back in full training and Barça hope he will be back in shape later in September to slowly reintegrate to competitive football.
