Official: Barcelona confirm Luis Suarez suffering from calf injury

Suarez underwent medical tests back in the Catalan capital on Saturday

Luis Suarez had to be taken off in the 40th minute of Barcelona's game against Levante on Saturday, with the Catalans going on to lose the game 3-1.

Upon returning to Barcelona, he underwent tests, with Barça confirming he suffered a calf injury but not revealing how long he will be out for.

"Tests carried out have shown that Luis Suárez has a right calf injury," the club said. "Therefore, he is presently not available for selection and his recovery will dictate his return to action.

"Barça's No.9 started against Levante (3-1), but was replaced by Carles Perez. During his time on the pitch, Suarez had one chance that was saved by Levante goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez. The Uruguayan was unable to add to his impressive record this season of eight goals in twelve games."

He will not play against Slavia Prague on Tuesday and is a major doubt for Saturday's game against Celta Vigo, which comes before the international break.

If he does not make it back for that league game, his presence in Uruguay's friendlies against Hungary and Argentina later this month is unlikely.
