The Catalan club's cap has been cut to just 97 million euros for the season

LaLiga have released the spending caps for teams in the top two divisions in Spain, with Barcelona's dropping to 97 million euros, a reduction of almost 285 million.

Real Madrid remain the club with the biggest cap. They can spend up to 739 million, an increase of 270 million compared to last season.

Barça's limit is seven times smaller than Madrid's and is also, remarkably, less than five other LaLiga clubs: Sevilla, Atlético, Villarreal, Real Sociedad and Athletic Club.

Also surprising is that Valencia are the LaLiga side with the smallest cap. Los Che's has been reduced almost 70 million to 30.9 million.

LaLiga's spending limits include wages on first team and academy staff plus amortisation payments on transfers.
