No surgery: Umtiti will undergo treatment on knee injury in Qatar
The club say the defender will take a more conservative approach for now
Samuel Umtiti will continue to avoid surgery. Despite it being the option advised by Barcelona's medical team, the player's opinion also carries a lot of weight and it's always the patient that has the last word.
Instead, Umtiti will follow a more conservative line of treatment which will take him to Qatar, where he will try, once and for all, to leave behind the cartilage problem in his knee which he's struggled with since the end of last season.
While avoiding surgery means he won't be out for a really long time, he will still me missing for a while. Barça say the treatment in Doha will be for "various weeks."
Here is the club's statement:

"First team player Samuel Umtiti will continue with conservative treatment with the objective of resolving the pain in his left knee. He will go to Doha (Qatar), where over the coming weeks he will undergo therapy under the supervision of the club's medical staff."
It will be the third time he's attempted conservative treatment. The last two times, at the end of last season and again this season, didn't have the desired results.
