Neymar's problems with his boots are beginning to cost Barcelona

The Brazilian was booked for fiddling with his laces and later sent off

During the last two games he had been forced to change his footwear

Everyone was talking about Neymar’s boots in the preview to Barcelona’s trip to Malaga on Saturday. And he did not disappoint. Once again, the problems the Brazilian is having with his footwear were evident. During the last two games, ’Ney’ had changed his boots in the opening minutes, this time he had problems with his laces.

After Malaga won a free-kick, Neymar tried to tie his laces on his boots in front of where the set piece was due to be taken. It prevented the home side from taking the free-kick. Referee Jesus Gil Manzano felt the Brazilian had obstructed play and decided to show him a yellow card. Later, that caution would prove decisive when Neymar got a second booking and was dismissed.

Remember that last time, Neymar was off the pitch for a couple of minutes changing his footwear. Luis Enrique was asked about it on Friday. “It’s a risk because we’re playing with one less player for a few minutes, but I’d prefer to be down for a minute and with [Neymar] for the other 89 than him being uncomfortable for 90 minutes,” he said.
