Neymar unlikely to play against Elche in opener

Barcelona forward Neymar suffered an ankle injury in training on Friday morning and is unlikely to take part in Sunday night's la Liga opener against Elche.

In a statement released by the club, it was confirmed the Brazilian has suffered a grade one sprain and indicated that his return to training will depend on how the injury treatment evolves.

It is almost certain, therefore, that he will not play any part this weekend.

Neymar only received the medical all-clear from the back injury which he suffered at the World Cup this past Monday.

He went on to make his first appearance of Barça's pre-season in the 6-0 win against Club Leon in Joan Gamper Trophy later that night, scoring two goals in 45 minutes of action.

Pedro is also rated as a doubt, meaning Rafinha and Munir El-Haddadi could start in Luis Enrique's front three with Lionel Messi.
