Neymar contract agreement reached with Barça

Neymar will be a Barça player for the next five years after an agreement was reached between both parties.

In July, the Brazilian will sign his new contract that initially runs from the 2016/17 to 2020/21 season, with an optional year that could tie him to the club until the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Within the 24-year-old's contract is a buy-out clause of 230 million euros, meaning any attempts to sign him have been shielded by Barça.

The pact with prosecutors surrounding his court case is the penultimate step before Neymar signs on, as it's a way to give the player protection before potential financial harassment and to avoid going back through a trial.

It was one of the major concerns of the former Santos forward that now, in principle, has been resolved after the club approved the pact.

The new contract is confirmation of Neymar's status within Luis Enrique's team and world football.

He'll substantially improve his earnings and will become the second highest paid player behind Lionel Messi.
