Ayoze Pérez confirmed that Barça were interested during a radio interview
Ayoze Pérez, Newcastle United’s Canarian forward, has confirmed that FC Barcelona wanted to sign him. The player confirmed this interest in an interview with Cadena Ser and did not rule out the chance to make the move happening again in the future.
When asked if he had received an offer from Atlético Madrid, the player responded that there was more interest from Barcelona but “there was more interest from England but there was some [from Barcelona]”. He added, “You have to work so this kind of thing can happen”.
Ayoze Pérez recognised that this interest was important for a footballer but said “Now my head’s at Newcastle”. Barcelona nearly signed Ayoze Pérez in the past but the deal was not completed.
