Neto tells Barcelona that he does not want to leave

The Brazilian goalkeeper has barely featured and previously wanted to find a new club in the summer

Barcelona have a problem with Neto. The goalkeeper, 32, has taken the decision to reject all the offers that he has and complete the year of contract he has left. He has told the club and his agents. The problem for Barcelona is that he has a high wage and the club were counting on him leaving.

The decision comes as a surprise given that he has received offers to sign from Brazil and Italy. He played in the latter with Fiorentina and Juventus before moving to Valencia.

Lazio would like to sign him, but for now Neto is not interested. He has an Italian passport which makes him appealing to European sides as he doesn’t count as a Non-EU spot.

Barcelona want him to go but the player has decided to stay and that came as a surprise, even to his agents.

The only thing left to do is to sack him if they want to be rid of him, as they may have to do with Samuel Umtiti.

In principle, the back up goalkeeper for next season behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen is Inaki Pena, who is back from loan at Galatasaray.
