The Barcelona back-up goalkeeper has wanted to leave the club for a while

Barcelona need to lighten their salary load. Xavi wants to resolve the future of the players he left out of the tour of the United States before the team returns to training in Barcelona next week. However the situation is complicated. One player who might leave his Brazilian goalkeeper Neto, who is finalising a switch to Napoli. Barcelona will let him go for free but the goalkeeper must agree to leave behind whatever money he has left on his contract and lower his salary demands if he wants to move to happen. Napoli are also looking at the option of Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea, although that will be a loan at a higher price. Neto has been asking to leave Barcelona for months but he hoped to find a Champions League club to play for, or at least a team where he could win some trophies. He considered a Celta Vigo option but then ruled it out.

Fulham were after him and were willing to pay a big salary if he could arrive for free from Barcelona, but Neto was not convinced and the English club are now looking at Bernd Leno for that position. The Napoli option was the one that most convinced Neto. He thinks that he can be a starter and revive his career at a club where he can hope to win various trophies. His agents are working on an agreement between the three parties with Barcelona making it easy for him to leave as long as he does not try and earn the extra money left on his deal. Napoli will not wait much longer than the end of the week and so a deal must happen quickly.
