Jose Mourinho speaks about reports of Man Utd interest in Leo Messi
The Portuguese coach says it's the same old story every year and that he hopes Messi stays put
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has spoken about Lionel Messi’s future, with the player’s contact at Barcelona up in 2018 and speculation about his future rife.
Mourinho denied being interested in Messi, though, as some media reports had claimed, saying that “it would be beautiful for him to start and finish his career at Barcelona.”
Messi, 29, has been linked with both Manchester clubs in recent weeks, City and United, but SPORT understand he will sign a new deal at Camp Nou in the new year.
“With Lionel Messi is every season the same story, that he’s going to leave,” Mourinho said on Wednesday as he previewed his side’s Europa League game.
"Honestly, I hope he never leaves. I think he belongs to Barca and Barca belong to him. I think he will stay but that's just a personal opinion."
