Mourinho getting involved in race for Clement Lenglet
The Man United coach wants a centre-back and is interested in the Barca target
Clement Lenglet looks like he will be one of the big protagonists of the transfer market. He seems set to leave Sevilla and various clubs want him. Manchester United are the latest of them as Jose Mourinho wants a new defender.
In England they report United sent various scouts to Spain to watch Lenglet over the final few games of the season. He is not happy with the performances of his defenders. Phil Jones could leave at the end of the season, while Smalling, Lindelof and Bailly are not performing as expected.
Man United want to offer Lenglet an attractive project both in terms of the sporting and economic sides. They can far out-do his Sevilla deal.
SPORT revealed that Barca have met with Lenglet's people to discuss a deal, and the club know they will have to pay his 30m euro release clause. Lenglet would like to come to the club but wants to play in all the games.
The Umtiti factor is important. If he renews with Barca, United will push hard for Lenglet. If not then Lenglet will become a Barca player this summer.
After the Copa del Rey final the true negotiations for Lenglet are starting. His future will be decided in the coming weeks. Barca have a good relationship with Sevilla and have done some deals with them in recent years. Sevilla would accept a bid worth the same as his release clause.
