Monza come looking for Samuel Umtiti again

| sport

After leaving FC Barcelona on 30 June, 29-year-old Samuel Umtiti has yet to make a decision on his future. He had a good season with Lecce and that is why he has a good reputation in Serie A, with Inter Milan as the most likely destination for the centre-back.

The 'Nerazzurri', however, are not the only side interested in acquiring the services of the former Barcelona man.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, a journalist specialised in the transfer market, Monza are thinking about Umtiti to reinforce their rearguard. The team coached by Raffaele Palladino needs to add a defender this summer and, as rumoured several weeks ago, the Frenchman is on their agenda.

Negotiations between the Italian club and the player's agents, however, are at an embryonic stage. No major steps have been taken to close the deal.

Last season, in the Lecce shirt as we have said, Umtiti felt like a football player again. The player from Yaoundé, who had been ostracised for several years at Can Barça, played a total of 2,116 minutes in 25 games.

His good performances attracted the attention of other teams and, after obtaining his release on a free, in the coming weeks he will be able to land wherever he sees fit.
