Monchu will return to Barca if Girona are not promoted
The midfielder has a 3.5m euros obligatory buy clause in his deal but only if Girona come up
If Girona don’t come up to the top flight, Monchu Rodriguez will return to Barcelona. It says as much in the loan contract that Barcelona and Girona signed last summer.
If Girona do come up they will have to buy Monchu, if he reaches 22 games for the club, which he has.
The fee would be 3.5 million euros should the Catalan side reach La Liga. They are currently eighth, and seven points behind Rayo Vallecano in sixth, which is the last play-off spot.
That means it’s hard to imagine they will do it and so the most likely thing is that Monchu comes back to Barcelona.
The midfielder, 21, has dropped a little out of favour in recent weeks. However he will have plenty of offers from elsewhere for next season.
