Mobile World Congress forces Sporting Gijon out of Barcelona

Barcelona host Sporting at 7.30pm at Camp Nou on Wednesday. The Asturian team will fly to Catalunya a day early

The mobile world congress taking place in Barcelona this week has forced Sporting Gijon, Barcelona's next opponent at Camp Nou, to change their plan and locate themselves in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, 40 kilometres from the Catalan capital.

Barcelona host Sporting at 7.30pm at Camp Nou on Wednesday. The Asturian team will fly to Catalunya a day early, Tuesday, but while looking for accommodation they have been forced to stay in Martorell, instead of Barcelona.

The reason is because the mobile world congress, between February 27 to March 2, means there are few hotels available and the prices of any rooms left are extremely expensive because of the enormous demand. In some cases prices have multiplied by 14, with rooms costing 140 euros normally now 2,000 per night.

Sporting have tended to stay in the hotel NH Sants, Calle Numancia, in Barcelona, but not they are at the Hotel Golf Barcelona.
