Mo Salah unhappy at Liverpool and linked to Barcelona

His former Egypt team-mate Aboutrika spoke about Mo's call to him

Mohamed Aboutrika, the former Egyptian footballer and Mo Salah’s ex international team-mate has said that the forward will leave Anfield for Camp Nou next season to play for Barcelona.

Aboutrika spoke on Bein Sport after Salah’s interview with AS in which he left the door open to a Barca or Real Madrid switch.

After saying his compatriot “is not happy” at Liverpool, he did say that “his future is in the hands of Liverpool” because his contract runs until 2023.

“I called Salah to find out about his situation in Liverpool and he’s disappointed, but that will not affect his performances,” said Aboutrika. “I know that Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons, but that’s a secret and I won’t talk about that in public. One of the reasons is that he was not the captain against Midtjylland.”

Jurgen Klopp made Trent Alexander-Arnold captain in that game. “Honestly, I was very disappointed,” Salah told AS. “I hoped to be captain but that’s the coach’s call. I accept it.”

Aboutrika added: “If Salah was at Real Madrid or Barcelona, and played the same level he played at Liverpool, he would have won the Ballon d’Or, and it’s normal that a Spanish paper asks him about Madrid and Barca.”
