Midfielder Frenkie de Jong does not want to leave FC Barcelona
It's been reported that Barça will consider offers for the Dutch international
Jose Álvarez revealed on El Chiringuito that Frenkie de Jong is for sale. Or, which is the same, that Barcelona need money to make new signings and De Jong is one of their highest-valued professionals.
There are no doubts about De Jong's quality at the club -- even when his performances have not always been his best -- and new coach Xavi Hernandez likes him but the club's financial situation could force them into a difficult decision.
Barça won't consider selling any of the young players that have broken through and it is in midfield where they're looking strong, with players that, at a given moment, could substitute De Jong without problems.
The Dutch international's name has appeared in conversations about the transfer market but we can guarantee that he is not thinking about moving to any club that is not Barça.
De Jong is very happy in the Catalan city and feels at home. But his market value may make the club think in what is a critical moment for the institution.
