Messi's blessing, with caveats, for De Jong and Arthur
Messi siad the club knew that Xavi and Iniesta's roles cannot be replaced
Many fantasised about how Frenkie de Jong would work with Arthur in Barcelona's midfield, hoping they could play the Xavi and Iniesta roles for Barca once again.
However Lionel Messi said, to RAC1: "At the club we knew that it would be impossible to fill in for Xavi and Iniesta, for everything they meant."
De Jong and Arthur have played well and Messi highlighted that.
"We have spectacular midfielders and I believe in them a lot," said the Argentine.
The tims they have played together as starters - against Valencia, Dortmund, Getafe, Inter and Sevilla they have left a very good taste in the mouth.
