Messi: "This allows me to add a bit more to FC Barcelona's history"
The Argentine forward was grateful to Barça fans for voting his goal against Getafe as the best in the club's history
Leo Messi has thanked FC Barcelona fans for choosing his goal against Getafe as the best goal in the club's history.
On Barça's official website, Leo's strike was voted the best after he took on half of Getafe's team before rolling the ball into the back of the net.
For a lot of people, it reminds them of Diego Maradona's strike against England with Argentina at the World Cup in Mexico, 1986. Sergi Roberto and his winner against PSG was the only non-Messi goal amongst the finalists. Messi's strike against Athletic in the Copa del Rey and his goal against Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu were the other runners up.
In a video posted by Lionel Messi, he said this: "I want to thank everyone who chose my goal as the best. It allows to add a little bit more history in this club and I want to send my best to everyone."
