Leo and Luis are in fine form going into the Copa semfinal

Valverde will look to them to beat Valencia on Thursday

Barcelona's top scorers this season, Lionel Messi (27) and Luis Suarez (18), go into the Copa del Rey semifinal against Valencia on Thursday in a great moment of form. In the last six games that they have both started, they have both scored and in total have scored 16 goals (eight each).

The run began on when Barça beat Levante (3-0) on Jan.7, the second game of 2018. Messi scored after 12 minutes and Suarez after 38. Paulinho rounded off the win. Then came Celta in the Copa del Rey, a 5-0 win: Leo scored twice in two minutes and Luis after half an hour. Jordi Alba and Rakitic also scored.

At Anoeta, against Real Sociedad (2-4), Suarez scored twice (2-2 and 2-3) and Messi, via a freekick, closed the comeback win. The run did not continue at Cornella-El Prat against Espanyol (a 1-0 loss) because they did not both start. Messi did, but Suarez did not. He came on in the 59th minute.

Against Real Betis, in the 5-0 win at the Benito Villamarin, both continued the run. Messi made it 0-2 and 0-4 and Suarez made it 0-3 and 0-5. Rakitic had opened the scoring. Against Espanyol, in the Copa return leg, they both scored in a 2-0 win. And, finally, in the 2-1 win against Alaves at the weekend, Suarez levelled things at 1-1 in the 72nd minute and Leo scored the winner in the 84th minute.

Their relationship with the back of the net is in good form. One scores, so does the other.
