Messi shows his commitment to Barcelona once again

The Argentine star has returned to training with his club early after the international break

Lionel Messi has once again shown his commitment to Barcelona. With Andres Iniesta injured, Messi has shown his captaincy credentials by turning up for training on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s game against Malaga at Camp Nou.

Messi, along with Javier Mascherano, has returned to work a day early after playing for Argentina against Brazil and Colombia. Sergio Busquets, Sergi Roberto, Denis Suarez, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Lucas Digne also returned to training as planned.

Messi took part in the session overseen by Luis Enrique at the Ciutat Esportiva de Sant Joan Despi, with Barça B players Marlon Santos and Carles Aleña also involved.

Still to rejoin the first team squad are Neymar, who is now back in Barcelona, and Luis Suarez, who is banned for this weekend’s game anyway.

It will be Friday when Luis Enrique can count on all his players for the game with Malaga. Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Jeremy Mathieu should receive the green light to return from their respective injuries for the La Liga fixture.
