Valverde's called up 18 players for Saturday's game against Sevilla

Leo Messi has been named in Ernesto Valverde's Barcelona squad for Saturday's game against Sevilla after missing Argentina's two friendlies during the last week.

Nelson Semedo, Denis Suarez and Thomas Vermaelen have also overcome injuries and been included in the 18-man squad for the match at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

There has been a lot of focus on Messi after he sat out Argentina's win against Italy and heavy defeat to Spain with a hamstring problem.

However, he returned to training on Thursday with Barça and trained again on Saturday, leading to Valverde naming him in the travelling party for this weekend's game.

Sergio Busquets and Lucas Digne are missing with injuries. Yerry Mina and Aleix Vidal have not been called up.

The full squad is: Ter Stegen, Cillessen, N. Semedo, Piqué, I. Rakitic, Denis Suárez, A. Iniesta, Suárez, Messi, O. Dembélé, Coutinho, Paulinho, Paco Alcácer, Jordi Alba, S. Roberto, André Gomes, Umtiti and Vermaelen.
