Messi is Champions League Player of the Week for Man Utd display
The Argentine scored twice as Barça booked a semifinal spot
Lionel Messi has been named the Champions League Player of the Week. UEFA have handed the prize to the Barcelona forward after his match-winning performance against Manchester United.
Messi's display at Camp Nou against United on Tuesday was an ode to football. It brought two goals but there were also so many other aspects which caught the eye as Barça won 3-0 to book their place in the last four.
The Argentine opened the scoring with a stuning solo effort but was slightly forunate with his second goal, which goalkeeper David de Gea fumbled.
Messi now has 10 goals in the Champions League this season, more than anyone else in the competition, and is the favourite for the Ballon d'Or already.
Now, Barça face Liverpool in the final four. The first leg is at Camp Nou on May 1 and the second leg at Anfield on May 7.
