Dembele and Umtiti also trained but the latter didn't finish the session

After Ernesto Valverde's press conference on Saturday, Barcelona trained ahead of Sunday's game against Athletic Club at San Mames.

The first news to come from the session was that Lionel Messi was able to train normally. The forward only came on as a substitute against Real Madrid in midweek due to a thigh problem.

But will he be in the squad? Valverde says he will decide after training. It's likely he will be, but it's not known whether he will start the game in Bilbao.

As well as Messi, Ousmane Dembele also trained. The Frenchman could come into contention for this weekend's fixture.

It's less likely that Samuel Umtiti will make it. The defender took part in part of the session but it was another step forward in his recovery -- he wants to return to face former side Lyon in the Champions League.

Barça B defender Juan Miranda also took part in the session. With Jordi Alba suspended, he is one of the options to start the game at left-back. Sergi Roberto, Nelson Semedo and Thomas Vermaelen are also possibilities.
