The Argentine crack scored the landmark goal with a stunning free kick against Liverpool

Lionel Messi's done it again. The Argentine star moved Barcelona closer to the Champions League final at the Wanda Metropolitano with a brace in the 3-0 win against Liverpool on Wednesday.

The goals were his 599th and 600th in Barça colours and they arrived 14 years to the day after he opened his account for the club against Albacete with a goal assisted by Ronaldinho.

Messi's 600th goal was the perfect free kick. Another one. At 2-0, Ernesto Valverde's side seemed more focused on defending what they had than scoring again. However, from a dead ball, Messi left Liverpool with very little chance of making the final. But there is still the second leg to come.

The goal was also Messi's furthest free kick scored in the Champions League. It was 29 metres out, a distance he'd never beaten a goalkeeper from previously in the competition.

He now has 12 goals in the current Champions League and is the top scorer in the tournament. Another Ballon d'Or must be close.
