Barcelona's Champions League game against Chelsea this weekend will serve as a reunion between Lionel Messi and Slovenian referee Damir Skomina. They were involved in an incident in the group stage game between Barça and Juventus, so will have a chance to smooth things over this week.
In Ernesto Valverde's Champions League debut with Barça, Skomina booked Messi when the Argentine asked for a Juve player to be cautioned. However, the only thing the Barça forward managed to earn was a yellow card for himself.
Skomina will be in charge of this Wednesday's game at Camp Nou between the La Liga leaders and the Premier League champions. Games between the two sides in the past have been filled with plenty of controversy, so he will have to be at his best to avoid being remembered for all the wrong reasons.
