The Argentine and Portuguese players will be in Madrid for the Libertadores final
Neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo will miss this Sunday's Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Both will receive special treatment from the South American football federation (Conmebol), the Spanish federation (RFEF) and Real Madrid. They will sit close to each other in the VIP seats at the Bernabeu, according to AS.
Ronaldo received the invitation after directly contacting Madrid, while Messi got in touch with the RFEF -- many other players have as well -- to be able to attend the game.
REQUESTS GALORE
The RFEF have also received 100s of requests from coaches around Europe and America. In fact, according to AS, the organisation's switchboard was blocked after the announcement the gamer would be played at the Bernabeu due to the number of requests.
Messi is able to attend the game as Barcelona play on Saturday against Espanyol, while Ronaldo's Juventus are in action on Friday against Inter.
