Memphis is sounding out his return to Olympic Lyon
The Dutch striker has not found his best form at Barcelona and Xavi is not certain
Memphis Depay is not happy with his role at Barcelona. It’s true he’s been injured for a while but the arrivals of Ferran Torres, Aubameyang and Adama Traore relegated him to a secondary role that he seems unwilling to take. In France, Le Quotidien say the Dutch striker has got in touch with Olympique Lyon to see if he could return.
Ronald Koeman brought him to Barcelona but the Dutch coach is gone. Memphis has eight goals, the club’s top scorer in La Liga, and a contract until 2023.
Xavi does not consider him key, so Memphis is happy to leave. It seems Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas might consider this return, especially if Brazil striker Lucas Paqueta goes.
