The Spanish left back is set to join the Catalans from Chelsea this summer
Marcos Alonso will be a Barcelona player soon and today they will try to advance the matter definitively. The player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, is in Barcelona to talk about the player’s contract, which could run for two years with an option of a third. Barcelona also want to seal a final price for the deal of less than 10m euros. The deal can be closed without Frenkie de Jong as exchange, with his exit frozen. The left back is a step away from signing, but it’s not sealed yet.
Alonso did not face Everton in the Premier League with Chelsea, asking Thomas Tuchel not to play. He will not play with the English side again before the switch. Barcelona have asked him for patience though as they have to register their signings first.
If there is no surprises, then Alonso’s contract will be fully agreed upon today. With Alonso there is no rush. Balde will head on loan after having a good pre-season, and Barca want him to get a lot of minutes.
Alonso will compete with Jordi Alba for the left-back spot. Xavi likes him for his attacking ability and good physique defensively.
