Barcelona travel to Madrid with a 100 percent record in the league

Valencia referee Mateu Lahoz has been designated to take charge of Atletico Madrid's game against Barcelona, which will be played at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Barça first ever trip to Atletico's new home comes after the international break on Oct. 14, with Ernesto Valverde's side going into the game with a 100 percent record in La Liga.

It will be the third time that Lahoz has taken charge of the Atletico-Barça game in the last four seasons and he has the honour of overseeing the first game between the sides at the new Wanda Metropolitano.

The last three times he refereed the encounter:

SEASON 2016 / 2017

  • Atlético Madrid - FC Barcelona: 1-2

SEASON 2015 / 2016

  • Atlético Madrid - FC Barcelona: 1-2

SEASON 2013 / 2014

  • Atlético Madrid - FC Barcelona: 0 - 0

Despite some controversial moments in his career, Lahoz has a good record on an international level. He took charge of PSG-Bayern Munich last week and is one of the favourites to take Spain's place at the World Cup next summer.

Lahoz was also in charge of the game between Barça and Atletico At Camp Nou 2013/14 when Diego Simeone's side won the title with a 1-1 draw.
