Barcelona would prefer a straight sale or, if it is a loan deal, that Valencia cover the midfielder's wages in full

Valencia's General Director, Mateu Alemany, has confirmed that Andre Gomes is a target for Los Che this summer.

As Alemany left the club's offices he told journalists that he was in direct negotiations with Barcelona over a move for Andre Gomes. He also confirmed that a deal was agreed for Diakhaby to join Valencia, subject to a medical. In terms of exits, Joao Cancelo has been given permission to undergo a medical in Turin ahead of his transfer to Juventus.

Valencia are interested in Gomes' situation after the Portuguese international completed his second indifferent season at the Camp Nou and now all parties agree his future lies away from Barcelona.

Barcelona's current idea is to sell Andre Gomes whereas Valencia are only interested in taking the player on loan for a season. However Barcelona have made it clear that should Gomes leave on loan his wages must be paid in full by the club borrowing the player.

Another point in favour of a deal being reached is the will of the player to return to Mestalla. It was there where he stood out as a potential star and was loved by the supporters. Andre knows that to get back to his best, he needs to play more. This is one of the reasons why he wasn't selected by Portugal for the World Cup.

Marcelino Garcia Toral, after having a fantastic start to life at Valencia, is keen to add more quality to his squad ahead of their return to the Champions League.
