Mateu Alemany confirms Julian Araujo deal is happening
The sporting director spoke about the move for the LA Galaxy right back
Los Angeles Galaxy defender Julián Araujo was one of the signings Barça tried to sign up until the last minute before the winter transfer window closed. The club's intention was for the full-back to join Barça Atlètic but also to have the doors of the first team open to him.
In the end the club was unable to complete all the bureaucracy of the signing by a mere matter of seconds, but the director of football, Mateu Alemany has confirmed his arrival in the summer.
"He is a player that we have been following for some time but due to circumstances, due to a glitch in the FIFA system, it was not possible to close the deal. The famous 18 seconds. He was a player who came to play in the second team. We are counting on him and we are looking for a solution, via TAS (court) or to play at some team for five months and then the player can join".
In other words, despite not being able to make the signing official or register him, Barça consider the player to be theirs, although it will not be made official until the summer. In this sense, the club is considering a loan to another club until June, when they can register the Mexican defender, who came through in the United States.
