Marlon not loaned to Newcastle because of work permit

Marlon Santos's loan to Newcastle cannot be sealed, say Sky Sports, because the Brazilian defender has not got a work permit to play in England.

After weeks of speculation he was finally set to join Rafa Benitez's team, but in the end cannot go.

Barcelona would have been able to get 2 million euros for the loan of the player, without Newcastle getting an option to buy. During the summer there were rumours about a move to West Ham or Southampton, but in the end nothing happened. Now Barcelona must look for another solution before the window shuts across Europe...
