The importance of Marcos Alonso in Xavi's young Barcelona squad

Marcos Alonso arrived last season from Chelsea and admitted that playing for Barcelona had been his dream since he was a child, when he used to watch his father do it.

He made his wish come true at the age of 31 and, since his arrival, and having more or less prominence, he has done nothing but grow within the dressing room, where he has become one of the most respected players by his teammates. 

He has a good relationship with veterans in the squad such as Sergi Roberto and Frenkie de Jong, but he has also connected well with world stars such as Robert Lewandowski.

The younger players see him as an example of a professional whose long career makes him one of their role models. Xavi is very satisfied with his daily work and his attitude. 

Despite not having many minutes, Alonso thinks of the team at all times. That is why he has earned the right to be, as he already is, one of the leaders of the squad and his ascendancy has only grown day by day.

When he speaks, he is listened to. He is one of those players who are necessary and essential in any project as young as Xavi Hernández's Barça.
