The Brazilian showed what he has to offer in Tuesday's 4-4 draw against Villarreal

Few, very few, would have said a month ago that Malcom would have a big role to play in Barcelona's final phase of the season.

With hardly any chances to demonstrate his value, every flash he's shown (goals against Inter and Real Madrid) has now been followed by the necessary confidence and games to try and show Ernesto Valverde that he can be much more useful than we have been made to believe.

At the Estadio de la Cerámica against Villarreal on Tuesday, he made his point. With practically his first touch, he got behind Pedraza and set up Philippe Coutinho to open the scoring. Then he headed home a cross from Arturo Vidal to make it 2-0 to Barça on the night. From there, there was hard work, moments of skill and good decisions.

Malcom lasted the 90 minutes for the first time this season (not including the Copa del Rey), so he must have pleased Valverde in one way or another. Malcom raised his voice and everyone heard. He has won the public opinion, but he's aware that there are others he needs to convince.
