Luuk de Jong almost left Barça... now he is club's top scorer in 2022

The world in reverse. With Ronald Koeman's exit in October, everything suggested Luuk de Jong would also leave in the January transfer window.
However, he has returned from having one foot out the door at the end of 2021 and his performances meant Barça decided to keep him until the summer.

De Jong then scored in the Spanish Supercopa Clasico in Saudi Arabia and then added his fourth goal in five games this weekend, coming on off the bench to score a 96th-minute equaliser against Espanyol.
His numbers make him the team's top scorer in 2022 and the second overall this season, with five (the same as Ansu Fati), three fewer than Memphis Depay, Barça's top scorer with eight.
Surprisingly, Ronald Araujo is fourth with three goals and several players have netted twice: Piqué, Sergi Roberto, Nico, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Coutinho, Braithwaite and Jutglà.
